The Trials of January

A Visual Representation

The Trial of the Writer
The Writing Process

Well that last couple of months was Quite The Trial, wasn’t it. But the state of the world and some nasty personal interactions aside, this was a good winter. One finds small joys as the Chaos reigns.

For example, it turns out that one can mull mead in much the same way as wine. A warm drink and something that makes the house smell good? Sign me up.

An Ongoing Trial, or Writing is Rewriting

I also participated in NaNoWriMo this year. Not the full 50,000 words, but a good 30,000. It doesn’t have a title yet and desperately needs rewriting, but that can be The Next Project. I expect it to run novel-length by the time its done, despite my intention to write a novella.

Perhaps I could break it into three short novellas and release them as a series? The kind of thing that’s short enough to read in an evening.

What do we do when life gives us lemons? We use them to make our readers cry. Or ourselves. Or both?

The middling part of Faehunter has been my burden for the last few months. It’s always the Middle that’s a problem, the true grind. The Middle Muddle. But it seems to be on an upswing now, with that momentum carrying through to the last stage of editing.

Writing is rewriting, as they say and only when you try to actually finish something do you realize the truth of that.

Other

I have achieved my adult form and finally gotten into scrapbooking. Much as a butterfly signals its maturity with a burst of colour, I have let my inner magpie run free and gathered a fine collection of stickers, washi tape and glitter.

I would thoroughly recommend it. Sticking things to other things is extremely enjoyable.

Until next time, keep hydrated and take care of one another.

Yours,
